Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 June 2026
LUXLINE is a quiet, independent way to get around Luxembourg by public transport. This policy explains what the LUXLINE website (luxline.lu) does with data. The short version: we do not run ads, we do not track you, and we have no accounts.
Who we are
LUXLINE is an independent, unofficial service operated by Tactical Codeworks, the data controller for this website. It is not affiliated with the Administration des transports publics (ATP), Mobilité.lu, CFL, Luxtram or the Luxembourg government. You can reach us at tacticalcodeworks@hotmail.com.
What the site does with data
- Your location (only when you ask). If you tap the location button, use "Nearby", or plan a trip from your position, your browser asks for permission to share your location. We use it in your browser to find the closest stops and to compute routes. We do not send your coordinates to our servers, and we do not store them. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your browser settings.
- Place and address search. When you search for a place or address, the text you type is sent to Apple Maps to return matching results. Searches for a stop by name are matched on your device against the public transit catalog and are not sent anywhere.
- The map. The map is Apple Maps via MapKit JS. When the map loads, your browser communicates with Apple to fetch map tiles and search results. Apple processes this to provide and secure the map service and may use identifiers as described in Apple's privacy policy and the MapKit JS terms. We do not control and do not receive that data.
- Live departures and transit data. To show a live board, your browser asks our secure service (a Cloudflare Worker) for departures using a stop's public identifier - not your name and not your location. To protect the service from abuse, the secure service applies a rate limit keyed to the requesting network address and keeps short-lived technical logs. We do not build profiles from this.
- On-device storage. To make the site fast, your browser caches the public transit catalog (stops and lines) in local storage on your device. This contains no personal data. You can clear it any time by clearing site data for luxline.lu.
- Cookies. We do not set tracking or advertising cookies.
Who processes data on our behalf
- Apple - provides the map and place search (Apple Maps / MapKit JS).
- Cloudflare - hosts the website and the secure service that returns live departures and the transit catalog.
- data.public.lu / Administration des transports publics - the official open data we read for stops, lines and schedules. We fetch data from them; we do not send your personal data to them.
Retention
We do not keep a record of your trips, searches or location. Location is used momentarily in your browser and then discarded. The secure service keeps only short-lived technical logs needed to operate and protect it.
Your choices
- Grant or deny location access at any time in your browser's site settings.
- Clear the cached transit catalog by clearing site data for luxline.lu.
- Contact us with any question or request at tacticalcodeworks@hotmail.com.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because we keep no accounts and do not store your trips, searches or location, in practice we hold little or no personal data about you to act on. You are welcome to contact us at tacticalcodeworks@hotmail.com with any request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority; in Luxembourg this is the Commission nationale pour la protection des données (CNPD), cnpd.public.lu.
Security
All traffic to luxline.lu and to our secure service is encrypted in transit with TLS. Secret keys for the transit data feed are held only on the secure service and never reach your browser.
Children
LUXLINE is a general-audience transit map and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
The LUXLINE app
The LUXLINE iOS app has its own privacy policy that covers app-specific features such as favourites, subscriptions and the optional AI planner. You can read it here.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top always reflects the latest version.
